Concrete Scanning & Imaging
Utillix uses the latest in concrete scanning and imaging technologies to help prevent unnecessary damage and costs during construction. Our non-intrusive and non-destructive methods offer fast, accurate and cost-effective results over a wide range of concrete surfaces.
We utilise state-of-the-art Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology. This is used for the location of reinforcing bar (rebar), metallic and non-metallic pipes and conduits, post-tension cables and wire mesh. We are also able to determine various characteristics of the concrete structure, such as cover depth, rebar patterns, slab thickness and the presence of voids.
Our service provides a range of benefits to our clients, including:
- workforce and site safety during cutting and coring operations;
- real-time reporting for speed of operations on site;
- elimination of damage to embedded elements during cutting and coring operations;
- elimination of costly mid-project repairs and delays;
- concrete quality control during construction; and
- post processing data exported to DWG format to facilitate AutoCAD redesigns.
Our results are presented in a clear and detailed report, providing all information required by the assignment. We include the rebar/post-tensioned cable layout, images of the steel reinforcing taken with our scanning equipment and details of the concrete characteristics.
